Family Dinners
Dinner is an important meal, not only for the nourishment it provides but also for time together as a family. Often family
members spend their days separately at work, school and pre-school, so it is nice to enjoy this meal together. Saying this, it can be hard to time dinner so that everyone is home, yet it is still early enough for young children to eat. You
can overcome this either by giving youngsters a platter of vegetable sticks and dips to keep hunger at bay while dinner
is cooking, or you can feed them earlier but have them sit with the rest of the family during dinner, letting them share finger foods from the table. This gets young children used to the ritual of sharing a family meal and ensures they feel
included.
